The practice provides a Complimentary Travel service which is not part of the NHS services.
It is important that patients wishing to travel must plan well ahead of time to go through the practice process.
In the first instance, the Travel Questionnaire that has to be completed is linked below. Information on countries and areas within countries that you are visiting is required for the Practice Nurse to determine what vaccinations are required. Our Practice Nurse will assess the form to identify if any vaccination is required for the location of the planned visit. After the assessment, the Practice Nurse gives the questionnaire to Reception to contact the patient to book an appointment if vaccination is required.
Please also NOTE some vaccinations may need to be spread over a period of time to ensure full immunity before embarking on the journey.
Please note that some travel vaccinations are chargeable and patients are advised to find out from the Receptionist calling to book the appointment if any of the vaccination is chargeable.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
Europe & Russia | North America |
Central America | South America |
Caribbean | Africa |
Middle East | Central Asia |
East Asia | Australasia and Pacific |
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible – at least 6 weeks before you travel – as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Medication
It is important that patients due to travel MUST remember to put in a repeat prescription request at least 5 days before the date of their travel indicating any special conditions or requests.
